This is the VIrtual Machine built in the Build a Drupal Development Environment video series. It is ovf ready for import into VirtualBox or VMWare. This file is an Ubuntu Server 10.0.4 lts all setup for drupal.
Root username is: ladmin

The file is over 500 megs.

Install drupal on your computer, install a mini server environment on your computer such as the Acquia Dev Desktop http://network.acquia.com/downloads or run a virtual machine on your computer. I prefer the virtual machine. It can be portable, it will run on most operating systems, and it gives you an exact copy of what the server environment where the site will ultimately live.
